Letters to Tohoku

Letters to Tohoku, a project of the Rotary E-Club of the Greater San Fernando Valley, was created to provide an avenue for overseas supporters and people in Japan’s Tohoku region to connect through messages of friendship, in light of the ongoing recovery underway after the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011.

Letters to Tohoku seeks to match organizations in Southern California and Tohoku, in the hopes of fostering a network of international friendships.

The exact nature and frequency of contact would be determined by the participating organizations.  Over time as the friendships grow, the foundation established through letter writing may open up possibilities for additional forms of exchanges and extending of mutual support.

Letters to Tohoku is currently seeking organizations and individuals of all ages and backgrounds interested in joining this endeavor.  Current participants include schools, community centers, and affiliated individuals in Southern California and Japan.  Letters to Tohoku organizers will act as facilitator to help build successful connections and provide any needed cultural and linguistic support.

Participants and supporters (as of March 2013):
