5 December 2011 — Family of Rotary

MESSAGE FROM THE (PROVISIONAL) PRESIDENT

December brings numerous holidays, more numerous holiday-related events, and so many Christmas songs on the radio that I feel palpable relief when they finally play Adam Sandler’s inane but fun “Hanukkah Song.”

December also demonstrates the convenience of an E-Club. We may all end up with events that would conflict with a traditional meeting time, but we have the flexibility of coming to this website for at least half an hour any time during the week.

Still, our monthly in-person gathering is fun and productive, and we enjoyed our December “meeting” on Sunday the 4th. We brainstormed many good project ideas, put a couple of new ones into motion, and even survived a demonstration of the International Mother Language Day project. See below, as always, for this week’s “Language of the Week” with its explanation of the project. And here is a photo from our E-Club’s “We-Club” meeting yesterday.

4 December 2011 in-person gathering!

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

December is “Family of Rotary” Month. More than any other aspect, that means involving our own families in Rotary fellowship, fun, and service. A search of “Family” and “Rotary” also turned up interesting projects where Rotary Clubs help with family-related issues, solving problems.

December 2011 message from Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee.

December 2011 District 5260 newsletter.  Please read all of it, but in particular enjoy the message from DG Tom Hardy, which you can read within the newsletter or as the second story down the District homepage.

And three brief videos about different aspects of Rotary and Family. (The third one is about ten minutes long…check it out, and if it catches your interest in particular stick through the entire video.)
