30 April 2012 — Rotary International Conventions

MESSAGE FROM THE (PROVISIONAL) PRESIDENT

The “official” brochure is still ready! Download here:  BROCHURE1eclubv2 (or it may open for you, and then you “save” it), print it front and back, fold in thirds, and show your contacts what we can do even better with them on the team.

Who do you know around town who would be a great Rotarian and fantastic addition to our team?

And are you ready to take it up a notch and help our E-Club launch?

THIS COMING SUNDAY — 6 MAY — IT’S TIME FOR OUR MONTHLY IN-PERSON GATHERING! Denny’s, Sherman Oaks, Sepulveda at Burbank Blvd., 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. TWO important discussion topics:

1) Food drives, quarterly, public outreach, and how our team can accomplish them.
2) Jennifer’s stories of her trip to Japan earlier this month, and her visit to Tohoku, the tsunami recovery area in Japan.

It will be a great time to bring potential new Rotarians. They will learn something about what we do locally, they will learn something about what we plan to do internationally, and they will hear first-hand stories of a visit to an area we all watched on TV after the disaster.

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

Los Angeles Convention Center, main entrance, during the 2008 Rotary International Convention.

On Sunday, 6 May, Bangkok, Thailand will host the International Convention. You can see consistent updates, photos, and videos by visiting www.rotary.org once it’s underway. For now, here’s a quick look at the history of the RI Convention…play around in there for lots of fun information.

Also, here are the RI-produced videos from the four most recent conventions…including the one right here in Los Angeles.

(THESE PAGES ARE LOADING A BIT SLOWLY ON MONDAY MORNING 30 APRIL…PLEASE BE PATIENT…)

  1. I was delighted to see high profile individuals such as celebrity Dolly Parton and scientist Jane Goodall included in the Rotary conventions. The international conventions seem to have really inspired the attendees.
