29 April 2013 — Joan Pelico, City of Los Angeles Update

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Our Fourth Sunday meeting in The Fireplace Room at Denny’s in Sherman Oaks, California, was tons of fun, with seven guests…one of whom magically transformed and became the world’s newest Rotarian before the closing bell. With a great speaker, fellowship, reports about just-completed service projects, news of changes in the grants process for The Rotary Foundation, anticipation for our exciting upcoming day with the Group Study Exchange visitors from Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures in japan, updates in the planning of service projects to come, and heckling–dont forget the heckling–it was a great Rotary Day.

A warm welcome to our new Rotary Club member, Natalia Yungerlevi. Here is her induction ceremony.

If there is anyone more qualified than Joan Pelico to update us on quality-of-life issues in the City of Los Angeles, it would to be the Mayor. And with all due respect to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, he’s probably still not as qualified to update us as is Joan.

So let’s let her update us!
