CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

We have launched our Clunkers4Charity fundraiser! If you know of anyone (yourself included) who wants or needs to donate a car for tax purposes, send them to our website…and to the Clunkers4Charity “Link” you see at the right side of this page. Funds we raise will go right into the community for our projects.

MINI CRAFT TALK

At each Fourth Sunday Meeting, one of our Club Members will present a miniature (five-minute) version of a Rotary Club tradition: the Craft Talk. This is one way for our Members to learn about each other and from a stronger team.

This month we had time for two Mini Craft Talks. Yoko Matsui gave a wonderful presentation but the video failed.

For September 2015, we learned all about Richard Cortes…and this video, fortunately, worked!

Around the Rotary International universe, Rotary Clubs are grouped together regionally for administrative purposes into approximately 500 “Districts.” Each District has one District Governor, who serves as the leader of the volunteer District team in place to support the Rotary Clubs. And each year the District Governor, who as a visiting Rotarian is always welcome in a Rotary Club anywhere in the world, makes one Official Visit to each Club in the District.

The Program for the Club’s monthly Fourth Sunday gathering, on September 27, was this year’s Official Visit, with this year’s 2015-2016 Rotary District 5280 Governor Dong Jin “D.J.” Sun of the Rotary Club of Koreatown, accompanied by Executive Aide (and District Governor Nominee, to serve as Governor during the 2017-2018 Rotary Year) Cozette Vergari, and Assistant Governor Makiko Nakasone, currently Charter President of the Rotary Club of Little Tokyo.

Here is some information about District Governor D.J..

  1. There were a lot of encouraging words that DG D.J.
Sun said about the District and about our Club.

I also enjoyed Richard’s craft talk, super fun to learn more about where Richard grew up, and his struggles in his early life, which has made him the GREAT person he is today!
