27 August 2012 — Past Rotary International Director Elmer Jordan

It’s almost time for our Third Annual DANCE FOR THE CHILDREN. After you have enjoyed this week’s program, please click on the PROJECTS tab near the top of this screen and check out the videos from the first two, as well as the information about this year’s 15 September big event.

But this week’s message from the President is about one magical event at our Rotary E-Club Meeting on Sunday, 26 August, in The Fireplace Room at Denny’s in Sherman Oaks. Including special guests Jim Adlhoch (Rotary E-Club of Southwest USA), Linda Catran (Rotary Club of Calabasas), Betty McGraw (President, Rotary Club of North Hollywood), and Jorge Vasquez (Rotary Club of Glendale Sunrise), our attendees enjoy one of the two best things any Rotary Club can do.

Thing one: help people through service. Thing two: bring great new people into the family of Rotary, allowing us to help even more people through service. Past Rotary International Director Elmer R. Jordan (Rotary Club of Calabasas) was on hand to induct three new Rotarians onto the team.

The Drive for Twenty-Five, when we Barter for a Charter…is underway!

Elmer Jordan’s biography is included in its entirety below the program video. It’s impressive, but doesn’t quite bring across how nice, warm, welcoming, and Rotarian this fine gentleman is. Please enjoy his discussion with us: “Rotary is a Living Force.”

  1. It was a pleasure to re-hear the words of Mr. Jordan. His enthusiasm for Rotary is contagious. I am honored to have been inducted as a “real” Rotarian by such a gracious and honorable man.

  2. I’m very excited to welcome 3 new members to our E-Club. Looking forward to creating a bigger, better, and bolder club in the coming months. It was also an extreme pleasure to be blessed with the warmth of Elmer Jordan at the meeting. We’re very lucky to have a past Director of Rotary Int’l right who care so much about Rotary in our backyard.

  3. Mel, as usual you know how to get great programs, those who have exhibited the Gold Standard of Rotary and are excited about our future.

  4. Thanks, Drew. It’s easy when you’ve got someone of Elmer’s character within easy driving distance…
