24 December 2012 — Music To Make You Smile

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Normal Rotary Clubs around this part of the world do not have meetings or programs this week.

We’re not normal.

The Drive for Twenty-Five, when we Barter for a Charter…turns out it’s plenty with twenty (but don’t stop there…more on this soon)…is in progress!

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

Here is some music to make you smile…two videos from an annual music festival for challenged people, created by the Rotary Club of La Cañada in Córdoba, Argentina. We’ll have a full program and interview about this festival in the near future, with an eye on how we can perhaps create something similar here.

In this first video, famous Argentine singer León Gieco sings one of his signature pieces with challenged musicians. The song reminds us all never to be indifferent to those in need, and to help them when we can.

The Festival in 2011, showing us the performers, and the Rotarians and Rotaractors, who make the Festival happen:

  1. What an amazing concert! So very touching. I’d love to see it in its entirety some day. It takes a special group of people to create something this beautiful, no wonder they are Rotarians.

  2. very nice. upbeat

  3. Nice program Mel and the Rotary E-Club. Happy Holidays to all and a peaceful New Year to ALL.

  4. Brenda and all–agreed 100%! In a few weeks, we’ll have a Skype program with my Rotary friend Vicki Tejerina, a member of the Club in Argentina and one of the key players in making that concert happen every year.
