TOP EIGHT LIVE SPEAKERS

In alphabetical order…here’s what we learned:

Kafi Blumenfield taught us about the new interactive science museum Discovery Cube Los Angeles and the fun of teaching and learning science and inspiring kids (and grown-ups).

Melodie Genty, a Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student, taught us about her home, New Caledonia, and her RYE experience.

Alex Guerrero, of Valley Economic Development Corporation, taught us about the current trends for the business community in and around the San Fernando Valley.

Lori Hall, of Global Classrooms for Peace, taught us about her amazing work in both water/sanitation and education in and around Fiji.

California State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian taught us about current trends and issues at the State level affecting us here in the San Fernando Valley.

Joao Victor Gomes Santos, also a Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student, in a magical conversation, taught us about his home, Brazil, and his RYE experience.

Carolina Sheinfeld, a graduate of the Rotary Peace Scholars program, taught us about that program and her meaningful work as director of a Torture Survivors program.

Karon Wright, of The Greater Contribution, taught us about her phenomenal work changing lives for the better through micro credit.

TOP THREE VIDEO SPEAKERS

1) Sean Davis, recorded live via Skype from his host family’s home in Belgium, as a Rotary Youth Exchange student from here to there, teaching us about his experience.

2) Melissa Manchester, award-winning singer and actress with a heart of gold and a career filled with charitable endeavors, teaching us about how to use our talents for a greater good.

3) The Honorable Harry Horinouchi, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, who taught us about the history of the Consular system and issues of Japan-United States relations.
