10 June 2013 — Water: Older Information And New

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

We’re getting ready for our Charter Party on 23 June, an open house for our friends in Rotary around the region to stop by, say hello, get to know us, and learn about our projects from displays around the room. We hope to learn a lot about our sibling Rotary Clubs, too, and what they’re up to.

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

Water is important. You knew that. Water is life, at least life as we know it.

Water is very important to Rotary, recent past…and immediate future. The Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG) will host its fifth World Water Summit on Friday, 21 June, in Lisbon, Portugal, to coincide with the Rotary International Convention.

You can read about WASRAG here…and you can read the specific page about the Summit here.

Five years ago, Rotary Video Magazine shared this two-part look at water harvesting, and what Rotary Clubs are doing about it. It may take time to build towards an international project, but what can our Rotary Club do about water insecurity?

  1. It is interesting to see how the water projects improve the lives of the villagers in ways beyond just water delivery. Reducing the time required each day to acquire water creates time for other productive efforts. The Bombay Rotary Club has an impressive record with its water projects.
